Anderson Park is located in a residential area in Hawthorn East, at the border with Camberwell. The view of the skyline is breathtaking, even more at sunset. There are installations like: playground in the shade for children, large flat grass areas, half basketball court, tennis courts and a BBQ spot. People are mostly walking their dogs, playing sports, having a picnic or watching sunset.
On the picture, it is hard to point out the tallest building of the city, the Eureka tower with its 297 m and 91 floors.

St Kilda is a thriving neighbourhood, filled with nice restaurants, cafรฉs and bars. After chilling at the beach, the main attraction at sunset is to watch pinguins go back to their nests, in the rocks around the pier.ย

This wonderful white and red lighthouse is located at the most eastern end of Griffith Island, connected to the sleepy fishing town of Port Fairy. As you can see on the first picture, thereโ€™s plenty of wildlife there, mostly birds and wallabies (no, thatโ€™s not a kangaroo,ย sorry!). I often circled around the island on the trail path which took approximately 45mn to complete passing through different landscapes like bush, sand dunes and beaches. The sun is setting the opposite way and rising just beside it, I had the chance (motivation!) to get there once, it was worth the effort. Youโ€™ll probably see another caption of this scene at sunrise ;)

Here are some of my sunrise shots at the lighthouse! It was such a rewarding feeling after getting out of bed in the cold dark morning. The location is perfect, joining the lighthouse and the sun in the same frame. After the first rays of sun went through the clouds, some early joggers and walkers joined me standing in awe admiring this stunning scenery.

This caption was made after one of my numerous walks on Griffith Island at sunset. It was not rare to see wallabies quietly eating at dusk. As I wrote in my previous post, this island is a really good place to go on walks and try to spot the local wildlife.

Tower Hill is a wildlife reserve where Koalas, Emus, Kangaroos and many other little animals live, and is located on an old volcano site, where water fill up the surroundings of the centre โ€œislandโ€. There are multiple trails for everyone to follow, spotting the typical Australian animals. Koalas are pretty difficult to find whereas emus are more curious and shameless (trying to steal your food). I went there in the middle of the day so I didnโ€™t see any kangaroos, probably hiding from the heat.

On the wonderful last day of the year, I went back to the touristic spots along the Great Ocean Road, which youโ€™ll see in other captions in the following parts. The 12 Apostles area is the best known spot on the iconic road. Nowadays only 7 of the limestone stacks remain, 5 being lost to erosion. Once there, the rough sea blasting over and over on the structures which are already carrying the scars of time speaks for itself as the reason why these โ€œApostlesโ€ are disappearing. The infrastructure there are impressive, free parking and access to the bathrooms as well as clean and secure paths. But youโ€™d better have a hand on your hat around the cliffs, you can spot a few lonely ones a couple of meters under the fences.

Another caption from my trip on the last day of 2019. This rock formation is now called London Arch after the collapsing of its part connecting the main land in 1990. The name London Bridge is however still used. Similarly to the 12 Apostles site, the infrastructure is great and offers beautiful plateformes enabling people to take the best pictures of this site. Your senses are also awaken by the sound of the waves crushing on the rocks and shore as well as the strong wind blowing in every directions.

Last caption of my trip on the Great Ocean Road. The Gibson Steps are located near the 12 Apostles and accessible after a short walk from the main parking area. The carved stairs allow you to access the beach and see the waves from closer. The feeling of being surrounded by high cliffs and rough sea is not bearable for long depending on the weather. From there, you can also have a look on one โ€œApostleโ€ and thus having a better sense of scale. Thatโ€™s impressive!
